Keratin Hair Straightening Treatment to Care your Hair

One of the most popular ways to get stick straight hair is by having the keratin hair straightening treatment. Keratin hair straightening goes by several names. In some salons, it’s called the Brazilian hair straightening treatment, Keratin Complex Treatment, or the Global Keratin treatment.

But all these treatments work on the hair the same way and uses the protein Keratin to produce desired results. Keratin is a type of protein that is naturally found in our hair, skin, and nails. When applied as a treatment to our hair, it creates a coating around our hair follicle which protects it, relaxes it and leaves it smooth and more manageable.

In keratin treatments for straightening hair, keratin is applied together with an aldehyde, a chemical that is derived from formaldehyde. This chemical helps bind the keratin to the hair. Because keratin works on the surface of our hair, the results it gives is temporary.

You can expect the results to last anywhere from 2 to 3 months, after which you need to have it re-done if you want to keep your hair straight. Keratin treatments can be done at home or in a salon. If you should decide to do it at home, we recommend that you have someone with you who is experienced in applying keratin treatments. Doing it yourself can be dangerous and problematic. Imagine using a hair straightening iron set to 450 degrees and ironing the back sections of your hair and you’ll understand what we mean.

When applying keratin treatments, this is what normally happens. First hair is shampooed clarifying shampoo. Next, hair is blow dried. It is then parted into sections to make sure the product is applied to every strand. A hair straightening iron seals the product in.

It is important that the iron is hot enough – 450F – and that it is applied very very well. This step leaves the hair stick straight. It is also helpful in maintaining the extra protection during treatment and after the treatment.

For 72 hours after the procedure, you should take care not to wet your hair or to cause it to bend in any way. This means no clipping or styling of hair and sleeping without crushing your hair. After 72 hours, wash with a gentle shampoo and conditioner for chemically treated hair. To keep hair healthy, shiny and soft, it is important to use the appropriate products on your hair.

A gentle shampoo and conditioner should be used. Don’t shampoo every day, because the more often you shampoo, the quicker the effects of keratin wear off. Avoid exposure to sunlight or wear UV protection to prevent your hair from drying.

Sometimes the sunlight can damage urs extra health of the hair and it can also damage the shine of your hairs. Lots of time it is seen that you may also damage the original health of hair which can cause you lots of issue in long run. If you would like to color your hair, it is recommended that you wait at least 2 weeks before doing so.
