3 Health Conditions That CBD Can Help Treat

Although research into the health benefits of cannabis have only begun just recently, there is already a large collection of studies suggesting the potential of its by-product, cannabidiol or CBD, for treating a number of health conditions.

This comes as the healthcare sector is turning towards alternative methods of treating physical and neurological problems. As CBD research gains headway, the product’s therapeutic potential is being unraveled little by little. We can see this in a number of studies that find valuable evidence of CBD’s effectiveness in treating these three specific conditions:

Arthritis

According to an article by Medscape, there are roughly three cases of rheumatoid arthritis or RA per 10,000 people worldwide. Medical researchers are looking into CBD as an effective means to support arthritis patients, most of whom have gone past the age of 60.

However, this could be complicated by the fact that there are about 100 types of arthritis, according to the Harvard Medical School. While certain types require unique treatment methods, laboratory studies seem to suggest that cannabis is the better option for patients suffering from chronic pain due to RA. Although there has yet to be any conclusive finding that supports CBD as an effective pain reliever for RA patients, chronic pain patients have noted improvements to daily life by using CBD, according to Hemmfy.

Despite such limitations, CBD treatment is currently being used as a component for pain management programs targeted for RA patients. It may not directly improve their well-being, but CBD could be a supplement for dealing with chronic pain.

Cancer

In 2020 alone, cancer has claimed the lives of more than 600,000 people, according to estimates by the American Cancer Society. Even though this is a part of the continuing downtrend of cancer deaths in the United States, investments are going towards improving diagnostic and treatment capabilities. Sure enough, the spotlight is on cannabis-based products which have been touted for their potential to treat cancer in the same way as vegan diets.

Although it has not been approved as a treatment for cancer, CBD could help with reducing the effects of cancer as well as the complications that often follow chemotherapy sessions. This has led to a strong demand for commercially available CBD products that are prescribed for cancer patients that have legalized medical cannabis.

In the meantime, research continues as the medical community closes in on CBD’s potential to inhibit the growth of tumors. There is a need to verify such claims so the world could inch closer towards a viable cure for cancer.

Anxiety

It is a little known fact that CBD can help improve one’s quality of life. This is due to CBD’s ability to reduce feelings of anxiety, which often reduces a person’s ability to perform everyday tasks.

There have been clinical trials that show CBD as a potential aid for treating anxiety. While research is still underway to support the development and use of CBD as a direct treatment for anxiety, cannabis-based products that function as supplements have become widely available to consumers (with proper advice from doctors, that is).

Much has already been said about CBD as a miracle product for treating a number of health conditions. However, it should not replace other tested and proven solutions in the market. Awareness and proper guidance is still needed if you ever want to try CBD for treating the health conditions listed above.
