Melissa Bolona Attends am Far Event In NYC

This year’s amfAR event was a bittersweet occasion.  Dr. MathildeKrim, who founded the Foundation for AIDS Research, now called amfAR, recently passed away. In the more than three decades since Dr. Krim began her work, HIV/AIDS research has made great strides.

It is fitting that amfAR celebrates the progress of HIV/AIDS research and raises funds for more research each year with an elegant gala.  Every year, many celebrities attend the event. This year, one of them was Melissa Bolona, and you can follow her on the Melissa Bolona Instagram account.

An amfAR Gala Full of Stars

The annual amfAR gala always attracts celebrities, but this year’s event was particularly star-studded.  Not only did Taraji P. Henson host, but other famous actors attended, including Chloe Sevigny, Queen Latifah, Neil Patrick Harris, Scarlett Johansson, and Whoopi Goldberg.

The fashion world was also well represented, with attendees including Kenneth Cole, Linda Evangelista, and Heidi Klum.  Melissa Bolona, of course, belongs to both worlds; she is both a model and an actress.

About amfAR

amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research, began in the early 80s before the HIV virus had even been discovered.  Dr. MathildeKrim and some colleagues founded the group now known as amfAR to fund research into the cause of AIDS and treatment for AIDS patients.

Celebrity donations have always been important to amfAR, with early benefactors including Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor. Rock Hudson was one of the first celebrities to die from AIDS, and today most HIV-positive people in developed countries can avoid developing AIDS for their entire lives.

HIV/AIDS research is just one of the many causes that Melissa Bolona cares about.  Although her social media pictures focus on modeling and acting, she is a philanthropist at heart. Follow Melissa Bolona on social media to find out more.
