1. Narendra Modi

The most recent Prime Minister of India who is still in his first tenure as the Prime Minister is among the greatest leaders India has received in a long time. Narendra Modi proved his governance and administration skills in Gujarat, where he served as the Chief Minister of the state for 12.5 years only to resign in 2012 to be the Prime Minister of India.

2. Lal Bahadur Shastri

Regarded mostly as ‘Shastriji’, Mr Lal Bahadur Shastri was the second Prime Minister of India who succeeded office after the death of Pt Jawaharlal Nehru in 1964. Shastriji is remembered for his great leadership during the 1965 war with Pakistan. He gave a totally unexpected order to the army to proceed into Pakistan crossing the International border during the fight which took Pakistan by surprise and they were forced to withdraw their troops from the area.

3. Atal Bihari Vajpayee

Serving his first term for a mere 13 days in 1996, Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee came out to be the first Non- Indian National Congress Prime Minister to complete a full five-year term in the history of the country from 1998 – 2004.

Mr Vajpayee is known for reinitiating the nuclear tests in India even due to the international pressure and sanctions. He is also the pioneer of the National Highway project, which the Congress admits made 50% of the roads in the last 32 years during his PM term of 5 years.

4. Indira Gandhi

The only female Prime Minister Of India, Indira Gandhi is without any doubt, one of the greatest Prime Ministers of the country. The daughter of the first Prime Minister of India, Pt Jawaharlal Nehru, she had her own charisma and very different situation handling techniques.

Indira Gandhi is known for the 1971 war with Pakistan when under her governance, the country infiltrated Pakistan as a part of retaliation and also the daring move to stop the Khalistan separatists with the operation blue star.

5. Dr Manmohan Singh

Though many regard him as an incapable leader, Dr Manmohan Singh did his part of excellent work while serving as the Finance Minister for the government of Mr P.V Narasimha Rao in 1991. After he got the office, Dr Manmohan Singh issued a number of economic reforms without which the country’s economy would have crumbled and recession would have receded in the country and hence causing an economic havoc.
